Dave Wertheimer began his television career in 1980 while in high school and has since established a notable career in broadcast journalism, taking on various roles from Chief Photojournalist to News Director across the country. He has covered significant stories worldwide as a freelance cameraman in challenging conditions, driven by a passion for impactful storytelling.
As an educator, he teaches visual storytelling at seven universities and conducts training for media organizations, including the National Press Photographers Association. He volunteers for high school journalism classes in Black River Falls, WI.
Dave has received over 100 industry awards, including more than 20 Emmy Awards, and has helped teams achieve multiple NPPA Station of the Year titles, focusing on ethical storytelling and leadership in the newsroom.
Additionally, he volunteers his skills for organizations like the Wisconsin Red Cross and the Hixton Volunteer Fire Department. In his free time, he enjoys searching for a good slice of pie.
