Dave is likely one of the most experienced consummate photojournalist's in the country with expertise in field work, news safety, news production management and, gosh, could I say he's instructed thousands of journalists throughout his career at NPPA News Video Workshops?? Definitely hundreds....and hundreds....and, well, hundreds more. He's got both the passion to make a difference in the viewfinder, the story, the finalization process and followup, and then being able to reproduce the good stuff and instruct others in doing the same! If your news coverage starts in the viewfinder and ends up in the ratings, which are NEVER good enough, well, get a guy to your place that can make your station's storytelling something that WILL make a difference! I bet if he spent short time in any newsroom he'd elevate the consciousness needed to make your station show the same stories with better quality sound, video, and context other stations do not have. It's NOT about a stick-mic and a headlight, it's about making you relevant in your market, and making your stories matter. Instead of watching the clock tick as your journalists s-l-o-w-l-y gain experience, how about watching their work show what good-experience-teaching inspires in that "good-hire" you made?

I had the privilege of working with Dave at both Twin Cities television stations where I held news director jobs. We also partnered on a video project for a local non-profit. He is a uniquely talented storyteller. More recently, as a member of the journalism faculty at the University of Minnesota, I have brought Dave in to speak with my classes and found him to be an engaging teacher. He is practical, passionate and -- to use one of my students' favorite terms -- relatable. Dave's wizardry with video and sound is critical to the kind of content everybody's after these days.

Dave Wertheimer is nationally recognized for his outstanding work as a visual storyteller. I had the pleasure of working alongside Dave at KSTP TV in Minneapolis/St. Paul. We won several national awards and Dave was a big contributor to our overall success. I’ve lost count on how many Emmys he has won. He’s a smart storyteller and wears many caps as a multimedia journalist. He can do it all from shooting to editing to producing to writing. Dave is an excellent teacher as well and has led many seminars across the country about video storytelling. He has a big heart and is extremely ethical in his approach. It was an honor to work with Dave. I have the utmost respect for him.
